I tested Vert Midi, the new nature concept food

The gourmand that I am, tested this summer a new food concept: the natural restaurant Vert Midi


Launched in 2007 by the young couple Marie and Yves (who imported the restaurant chain ‘Le Pain Quotidien’ in France), Vert Midi is a new fast food concept where healthy food and the protection of the environment are honored .

Impossible today to ignore the ecology and sustainable development, topics at the heart of the debate. Advertising, TV or on the web, all means are good to educate each other to consume green.

Concerning the health, in front of the fast-food chains that offer products high in fat but low in vegetables and whose impact on health is therefore worrying, it was necessary for the emergence of an alternative.
It is this desire to provide healthy products for health and the environment that Vert Midi is born. The company has based its development on a « green » approach through two restaurants: the eco-friendly restaurant in essence.



I tested the restaurant located 9, rue des Ours in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris. I arrived at rush hour, around 12:30, despite the queue that extends to the outside, no one turns back.

I take this opportunity to discuss with some customers, most already know the place and tell me to come for both healthy and green food, hospitality and especially for the affordable prices.

The products are fresh and healthy, inside we find furniture collection for some heather in Emmaus (French Charity), everyone is invited to sort waste … The message of the founders is written everywhere on the walls!


Vert Midi proposes three menu at affordable prices:

Salad Menu: made up of  salad of the day and fresh juice of the day (8,20€)

Empanadas Menu : Marie wanted to pay tribute to her homeland; Argentina. 2 caked filled with meat, cheese or seasonal vegetables (of your choice), 1 salad, 1 dessert and 1 drink (10€).

Main course Menu : soup of the day, today’s special (meat or fish), a drink (11,80€).

So on the menu, freshness, bread made from wheat, gluten free food, fresh fruits. Wednesday is vegetarian, but there is always the possibility for carnivores to eat meat or fish.



I opted for the salad served in the famous ‘Edible bowol‘ invention of these Nature restaurants and success of the brand! My salad consisted of dried tomatoes, corn, cucumbers, salmon and pasta.

I am not a fan of ginger , but I was convinced by the friendly waiter server, and I tried the mix of apple-watermelon-ginger … It’s delicious, I recommend it! For dessert it’s fruits salad: watermelon, melon and banana.

I rediscoverd the taste of fresh fruits and vegetables (at the restaurant), a tasty and enjoyable lunch.

Another opportunity to discuss with customers, my neighbors, who initially came to eat healthy as part of their diet. Proximity, taste, friendly staff, and once again the quality and price have made them regulars.

It is not the desire that was missing, but you can also enjoy homemade desserts: canelé, chocolate  fondant, carrot cake, brownie …
